Stories Belong To Everybody

from the moment we open

our eyes, or sometimes
earlier, perhaps
we begin to tell stories
to understand the worlds
outside, inside and within
each other
we fancy ourselves
little princesses
soldiers, prisoners
and sometimes
all at once and more
still we share our stories
with dolls
with friends, siblings, strangers
if we are brave enough
even the most outrageous
stories reveal our truth
and our souls are built
explored world
by word
we travel ages and land
far far away
yet always within reach
one fancy after the
next fascination
we dream futures
and pasts, and a million
lives within and each
is real at once
and they live happily
ever after all
